Providing a comprehensive progress report in Parliament, Minister of Education Dr. Harini Amarasuriya outlined the operational roadmap for concluding the islandwide graduate teacher recruitment process:
- Final Script Evaluation: The evaluation of answer scripts for Sinhala, Tamil, and English medium teaching vacancies across National and Provincial schools is reaching completion under the Supervision of the Department of Examinations.
- Rapid Transition to Interviews: Once the marks database is verified and released, qualifying merit candidates will be immediately summoned for structured document verification and interviews in October 2026.
- Target Appointment Timeline: The Ministry of Education has scheduled the finalization of appointments, school postings, and duty assumptions to take place by December 2026.
The upcoming score release encompasses two primary examination streams held nationwide:
Open Competitive Examination for the Recruitment of Graduates to the Sri Lanka Teachers’ Service (SLTS) for Sinhala, Tamil, and English Medium Teacher Vacancies in National and Provincial Schools of the Island – 2026 (Approximately 8,000+ vacancies).
Limited Competitive Examination for the Recruitment of Graduates currently serving in the Public Service to the Sri Lanka Teachers’ Service (SLTS) for Sinhala, Tamil, and English Medium Vacancies across the Island (Approximately 15,000 vacancies).
