📋 Strict Eligibility Criteria & Conditions

Candidates must fulfill all eligibility criteria as of the application deadline on October 06, 2026:

1. Educational Qualifications:

  • A Bachelor's degree obtained from a foreign or state university recognized by the University Grants Commission (UGC), OR
  • A degree awarded by a higher education institution established by an Act of Parliament of Sri Lanka, OR
  • A degree recognized under Section 25A of the Universities Act, No. 16 of 1978.

2. Age Limitations (as at 06.10.2026):

  • General / Open Applicants: Must have completed 22 years and must not have attained 28 years of age (birthdays must strictly fall between 06.10.1998 and 06.10.2004, inclusive).
  • Confirmed Public Service Officers: Must not have attained 35 years of age (born on or after 06.10.1991). Must hold a confirmed permanent appointment in the Public Service or Provincial Public Service and have maintained an unblemished service record with all salary increments earned over the preceding 5 years.

3. Nationality, Character & Special Conditions:

  • Must be a citizen of Sri Lanka. Individuals with dual citizenship must agree to renounce their foreign nationality upon selection and cannot acquire foreign citizenship during tenure.
  • Must be of excellent moral character. Shortlisted candidates must submit an authentic Police Clearance Report directly to the interview panel.
  • Religious Orders Restriction: Persons ordained in any religious order or priesthood are legally ineligible to apply or sit for this examination.
  • Attempt Cap: Candidates are strictly prohibited from sitting for the SLFS recruitment examination on more than three (03) occasions.

⚠️ Screening Threshold: The MCQ paper (Paper 06) will be evaluated first. Only candidates who secure the minimum required pass mark of 75/150 in the MCQ paper will have their remaining six subject papers evaluated.

Candidates scoring at least the minimum pass mark in each individual paper and an aggregate cut-off of not less than 300 marks will be shortlisted for the interview. The interview quota will not exceed five times the total vacancies (maximum 125 candidates):
