Editor's guidance (general advice, not part of the notice)
The points below are general guidance by GovInfo.lk, not part of the official notice.
- Apply before the last day. The notice says applications must be made "before" 30 October 2026. To be safe, submit by 29 October rather than relying on the last day.
- Check the timetable fits your life. Classes run on weekdays and weekends, so check whether this fits your job and family commitments before applying.
- Plan the cost. Rs. 40,000 plus Rs. 1,000 is paid in stages, so ask or read about the instalment dates in the instructions.
- Have your A/L results to hand. You will probably need your examination details when applying, so find your index number and results first. If you need your certificate, see our A/L certificate guide.
- Use only the NIE website. Apply through the NIE address given in the notice, and be careful with look-alike websites or agents who ask for extra payments.
- Ask NIE about recognition. If you want the diploma for a particular job or registration, confirm with NIE or the employer what it is accepted for. The notice does not say.
