Sri Lanka Railways – Railway Security Officer (Grade III) Recruitment 2026
The Sri Lanka Railway Department has issued an official amendment notice extending the closing date for the recruitment of Railway Security Officers (Grade III) for 2026. Eligible unmarried Sri Lankan candidates meeting the age, educational, and physical criteria can apply by registered post on or before the extended deadline of October 16, 2026.

இலங்கை புகையிரத திணைக்களத்தின் புகையிரத பாதுகாப்பு சேவையின் தரம் III பாதுகாப்பு உத்தியோகத்தர் (ஆண்/பெண்) பதவிக்கான ஆட்சேர்ப்பு தொடர்பில் திருத்த அறிவித்தல் வெளியிடப்பட்டுள்ளது. இதற்கமைய விண்ணப்பங்களை சமர்ப்பிப்பதற்கான இறுதித் திகதி 16 அக்டோபர் 2026 வரை நீடிக்கப்பட்டுள்ளது. ஏற்கனவே விண்ணப்பித்தவர்கள் மீண்டும் விண்ணப்பிக்க தேவையில்லை.
- Extended Closing Date: Applications via Registered Post will now be accepted up to October 16, 2026.
- Age Limit Criteria: Applicants must be between 18 and 28 years of age as of September 28, 2026 (Born on or after 28.09.1998 and on or before 28.09.2008).
- Previous Applicants Note: Candidates who have already submitted their applications under the initial advertisement dated August 28, 2026, do not need to reapply.

- Salary Code: RS 1-2025
- Salary Scale: LKR 49,550 – 7x540 – 27x670 – LKR 71,420 (as per Public Administration Circular No. 10/2025).

🎓 Eligibility Criteria & Physical Standards
1. Educational Qualifications
- Passed G.C.E. Ordinary Level (O/L) in not more than two sittings in six (06) subjects.
- Must include passes in Language (Sinhala, Tamil, or English) and Mathematics.
- Must have obtained at least two (02) credit passes among the six subjects.
2. Physical Standards
- Height: Minimum 5' 6" for Male candidates | Minimum 5' 2" for Female candidates.
- Chest (Male Candidates): Minimum 32 inches (unexpanded).
- Vision: 6/6 vision without spectacles (must pass LB 29 vision test).
📝 Selection Scheme
- Preliminary Physical Fitness Test (Colombo): Includes 1,000m run, chin-ups, push-ups, sit-ups, squat thrusts, and Kim's Game (visual memory test). Candidates must score at least 50% to qualify for the written exam.
- Written Competitive Examination:
- Language Ability (2 Hours | Max Marks: 100 | Pass Mark: 50%)
- Intelligence Test (1 Hour | Max Marks: 100 | Pass Mark: 50%)
- Structured Interview (50 Marks): Assesses additional qualifications, sports achievements, leadership skills, language proficiency, and IT literacy.

- Fee Amount: LKR 1,200.00 (Non-refundable).
- Bank: People's Bank.
- Account Name: General Manager of Railways.
- Account Number: 176-100129027-313 (Town Hall Branch, People's Bank).
- Mandatory Requirement: Paste the original bank payment receipt firmly on the designated space of the application form.

- Prepare the application on standard A4 size paper following the official specimen application form.
- Complete all personal details, educational qualifications, and physical measures accurately.
- Attach the original bank payment receipt of LKR 1,200.00.
- Clearly write “Open Competitive Examination for Recruitment to Railway Security (Male/Female) of Railway Security Service in Sri Lanka Railway Department - 2026” on the top left-hand corner of the envelope.
- Dispatch the application via Registered Post to reach the address below on or before October 16, 2026.
