DTET Visiting Instructors Registration 2027
The Department of Technical Education and Training (DTET) has opened online registration for external resource persons to serve as Visiting Instructors for vocational courses commencing in the 2027 academic year across 39 Technical and Industrial Colleges nationwide. Eligible technical diploma, NVQ, and degree holders must submit applications through the official DTET web portal by 7 December 2026.

Required Qualifications by Course Level
Applicants must satisfy the required educational qualifications and industry/teaching experience prior to the closing date as prescribed below:
1. NVQ Level 3 and 4 Courses
- NCT or NVQ Level 5 qualification in the relevant subject area (or equivalent government-recognised certificate) AND at least 3 years of teaching or industrial experience; OR
- NVQ Level 6 equivalent qualification (such as HNDE, NDT, NDES, or equivalent government-recognised qualification) AND at least 3 years of teaching or industrial experience; OR
- Degree or Postgraduate Diploma in the relevant field (or equivalent professional qualification) AND at least 3 years of teaching or industrial experience.
2. NVQ Level 5 Courses
- NVQ Level 5 or equivalent recognised certificate in the field AND at least 3 years of teaching or industrial experience; OR
- NCT qualification with at least 10 years of teaching or industrial experience (valid strictly for teaching in Semester 1 / Year 1 and Semester 2 / Year 2); OR
- NVQ Level 6 equivalent qualification (HNDE, NDT, NDES, or equivalent) AND at least 3 years of teaching or industrial experience; OR
- Degree or Postgraduate Diploma in the relevant field AND at least 3 years of teaching or industrial experience; OR
- Postgraduate Degree (Master's) or Ph.D. in the relevant field (or equivalent professional qualification) AND at least 3 years of teaching or industrial experience.
3. NVQ Level 6 Courses
- Degree or Postgraduate Diploma in the relevant field (or equivalent professional qualification) AND at least 3 years of teaching or industrial experience; OR
- Postgraduate Degree (Master's) or Ph.D. in the relevant field AND at least 3 years of teaching or industrial experience.
Age Limit and Remuneration
- Age Criterion: Candidates aged 65 and above will only be considered if qualified applicants under the age of 65 are unavailable for the respective post.
- Payment of Fees: Remuneration will be paid in accordance with the Director General's circulars on external instructor payments, determined by educational qualifications, practical experience, and the NVQ course level taught.
- Engagement Nature: This registration applies solely to the 2027 academic year and does not confer any entitlement to permanent employment.
Selection Procedure & Mandatory Duties
- Interviews: Directors or Principals of the respective Technical or Industrial Colleges will conduct interviews. Selections will be made based on interview merit order. Prior teaching experience receives preference.
- Mid-Year Vacancies: If an insufficient number of qualified applicants apply for specific college vacancies, or if vacancies arise mid-year, College Directors/Principals hold authority to re-call applications online and recruit instructors.
- Mandatory Examination Duties: Registered visiting instructors must participate in setting question papers, invigilating examinations, and evaluating answer scripts for final, semester, and year-end examinations, with or without special allowances.

Part 1: From the Official Notice
- Online Submission Mandatory: Applications must be submitted through the resource pool portal at
www.dtet.lkon or before 7 December 2026. - Requirement for Public Sector Employees: Applicants currently employed in the public service must print their submitted online application form, obtain the written recommendation of their Head of Institution certifying that visiting instructor duties will not disrupt their regular service, and produce it before the interview board.
- Grounds for Disqualification / Termination: Appointments can be cancelled at any time by the College Director/Principal with written grounds in cases of criminal conviction, submission of forged or false certificates, engagement in anti-social activities, or substantiated student complaints regarding teaching quality.
- Past Conduct: Applicants who previously worked as external instructors at a Technical or Industrial College and engaged in misconduct damaging the institution's reputation will have their applications rejected without being called for an interview.
