Eastern Province Teacher Transfers 2027 (Tamil Medium): The List, the Appeal Process and the 10 November Deadline

🏛️ Provincial Department of Education, Eastern Province 📋 Circular EP/20/01/04, 26 October 2026 📅 Annual inter-zonal teacher transfers 2027 (2026)

The Provincial Department of Education, Eastern Province, has issued the proposed annual inter-zonal teacher transfers for 2027 (2026), and the Tamil-medium list names 193 teachers. Teachers who are not satisfied with a proposal can appeal, but only on the model form, with the recommendations of the Principal and the Zonal Director of Education, and by registered post that reaches Trincomalee before 10 November 2026. This guide explains what the circular says, what the list contains and how to appeal without making the mistakes that get an appeal rejected.

The zone counts are GovInfo.lk's tally of the scanned list. The Transfer Board's decision reads "Transfer will be granted after a suitable replacement" for nearly every entry, and "The transfer will be granted without a replacement" for two entries. The circular covers the Sinhala and Tamil media, and the list we reviewed is the Tamil-medium one.

How to Appeal, Step by Step

  1. Find your entry in the official Tamil-medium list and read the proposed school and the Transfer Board's decision.
  2. If you are not satisfied, get the model appeal application form from the circular and prepare your appeal on both sides of an A4 sheet.
  3. Complete every part of the form. It asks for your personal and service details, details of the transfer order you received, the grounds for your appeal with copies of supporting documents attached, and the relief you want.
  4. Sign and date it.
  5. Take it to your Principal and then your Zonal Director of Education for their recommendations. The form has a section for each.
  6. Send it by registered post to: Provincial Director of Education, Provincial Department of Education, Eastern Province, Inner Harbour Road, Trincomalee. It must reach there before 10 November 2026.

Do not send it directly to the Provincial Department yourself outside this route, because the circular says applications sent directly will not be accepted.

Editor's guidance (general advice, not part of the notice)

The points below are general guidance by GovInfo.lk, not part of the official notice.

  • Get the two recommendations first. Both the Principal and the Zonal Director must sign, and they work on their own timetables, so approach them now.
  • Aim to arrive before the 10th. The circular says the appeal must reach Trincomalee "before" 10 November and that anything received after that date is refused. Post it with registered mail a week ahead, keep the receipt and do not rely on the last day.
  • State your grounds clearly. Use the numbered grounds in the form, one point each, and attach certified copies of any documents that support them, as the form's attachment lines indicate.
  • Check the list entry carefully. Compare the details printed for you, such as your subject, present school and employee number, with your own records. If something is wrong, say so in the appeal.
  • Keep a full copy of the signed appeal, the attachments and the post receipt.
  • Ask your Zonal Education Office if you are unsure how to route the form. The Provincial Department's contact numbers are below.
