Sri Lanka Government Gazette – 23 October 2026 (Gazette No. 2,512): Vacancies and Notices
Gazette No. 2,512 of 23 October 2026 carries four recruitment notices in Part I, Section (IIA): 177 Ayurveda Medical Officer posts, 13 Assistant Secretary posts in the Labour Tribunals, two Senior Assistant Auditor General posts and a changed closing date for the Chief Editor posts at the Department of Cultural Affairs. All four are applied for by registered post, and each notice says that complaints about lost or delayed applications will not be considered.
1. Ayurveda Medical Officer, Primary Grade (177 vacancies)
Who it concerns: Graduates in Ayurveda, Siddha or Unani medicine.
- Authority: Ministry of Health and Mass Media, on the order of the Health Services Committee of the Public Service Commission. Notice dated 17 October 2026.
- Post: Primary Grade, Medical Officer category, Sri Lanka Ayurveda Medical Service, Department of Ayurveda.
- Qualifications: A five-year degree in Ayurveda, Siddha or Unani medicine from a University Grants Commission recognised university followed by a one-year internship, plus a registration certificate from the Sri Lanka Ayurveda Medical Council. Qualifications must be held on 16 November 2026.
- Age: 22 to 45 on 16 November 2026.
- Salary: Rs. 91,750 – 3×2,400 – 7×2,420 – 2×2,490 – 16×3,900 – Rs. 184,170 per month (SL-2-2025), as printed.
- Selection: By the University Grants Commission's merit list for the relevant years, then an interview by a board appointed by the appointing authority.
- Apply: By registered post to the Commissioner General of Ayurveda, Department of Ayurveda, Old Kottawa Road, Navinna, Maharagama, to arrive on or before 16 November 2026.
- New appointees must serve at least two years at their first station and are not given transfers in that period.
2. Assistant Secretary, Labour Tribunals (13 vacancies)
Who it concerns: Management Service Officers, Grade I, of the Combined Service. Nobody else may apply.
- Authority: Ministry of Justice and National Integration. Notice dated 7 October 2026.
- Posts: In labour tribunals at Nuwara Eliya, Hatton, Avissawella, Kamburugamuwa, Halawatha, Homagama, Kotapola, Bandarawela, Nawalapitiya, Matale, Ampara, Trincomalee and Jaffna. The notice says these places may change slightly.
- Salary: MN 2 – 2025: Rs. 48,470 – 10×540 – 11×630 – 10×1,010 – 10×1,190 – Rs. 82,800 per month. The post is permanent and pensionable.
- Selection: A structured interview. Marks go to knowledge of the Industrial Disputes Act (10) and of the Sri Lankan judicial sector (10), education and vocational qualifications (40), seniority (10), service experience (15) and interview skills (15).
- Apply: On the model application form published on the Ministry's website, through your Head of Institution, by registered post to the Secretary, Labour Tribunal Secretariat, No. 19, Sri Sangharaja Mawatha, Colombo 10, to arrive on or before 23 November 2026.
3. Senior Assistant Auditor General, Class I (2 vacancies)
Who it concerns: Chartered accountants with senior executive experience, and members of the Sri Lanka State Audit Service.
- Authority: Audit Service Commission. Notice dated 23 October 2026.
- Post: Executive Service category, Class I, Sri Lanka State Audit Service, by direct recruitment.
- Qualifications: Associate membership of the Institute of Chartered Accountants of Sri Lanka or the Chartered Institute of Management Accountants of the United Kingdom, plus 12 years of executive-level experience in the field. External applicants count the 12 years after getting the professional qualification, and members of the State Audit Service count 12 years in an executive-level post.
- Age: 35 to 45 on 23 November 2026, meaning born between 23 November 1981 and 23 November 1991 inclusive. The upper limit does not apply to officers in the public service.
- Salary: Rs. 86,950 – 10×2,400 – 8×2,940 – 17×3,900 – Rs. 200,770 per month (AS 03 – 2025), with a starting step of Rs. 138,370.
- Selection: A structured interview. Marks go to additional education (25), additional professional qualifications (20), experience in the field (40), IT and computer skills (5) and interview skills (10).
- Apply: By registered post to the Secretary, Audit Service Commission, No. 415, Kotte Road, Rajagiriya, to arrive on or before 23 November 2026. Public servants apply through their Head of Institution.
4. Chief Editor posts: Department of Cultural Affairs (closing date changed)
Who it concerns: Anyone who has applied or planned to apply for the contract posts of Chief Editor of the Sinhala Dictionary Office and Chief Editor of the Sinhala Encyclopedia Office.
- The notice of 25 September 2026 is amended in one respect: completed applications must now arrive on or before 6 November 2026.
- Send them by registered post to the Director of Cultural Affairs, Department of Cultural Affairs, 8th Floor, Sethsiripaya, Battaramulla. Applications arriving after that date are rejected.
- The amendment is dated 19 October 2026 and issued by the Ministry of Buddha Sasana, Religious and Cultural Affairs. The other details are in the 25 September 2026 Gazette.
