Editor's guidance (general advice, not part of the notice)

The points below are general guidance by GovInfo.lk, not part of the official notice.

  • Count your marks before you apply. Seniority and experience are worth 25 of the 100 marks, and both are counted in years, so work out your own totals from the scheme.
  • Gather proof early. Experience claims must be confirmed by documents from the institutions concerned, and training and course marks need certificates, so request them well before the closing date.
  • Collect your best certificates. English and computer qualifications are worth up to 10 marks each, and only a diploma of 6 to 12 months gets the full marks.
  • Prepare for the interview content. Twenty marks are for knowledge of the Industrial Disputes Act and the Sri Lankan court system, so study both.
  • Ask your Head of Institution early. The certificate on the form includes whether you can be released and the state of any disciplinary matter, and it must be signed and stamped.
  • Choose your three preferences carefully, but treat them as preferences only.
  • Post it a week early, by registered mail, and keep the receipt, since there is no acknowledgement.
Before you apply: download the model form from the Ministry's website and read the full notice in the Gazette. This post summarises Gazette No. 2,512, which we read in Sinhala.
